Angelo Antonio Maristela is a Filipino-American visual artist whose work spans hyper-realistic portraiture, contemporary figurative painting, and abstract art. With over three decades of experience, his practice reflects both technical mastery and a continuous exploration of form, texture, and visual expression.

While widely recognized for his museum-quality realistic portraits, Maristela’s broader body of work extends into contemporary and abstract compositions, where structure gives way to movement, color, and interpretation. This dual approach allows his work to engage both traditional collectors and those drawn to more expressive, modern visual language.

His paintings—whether representational or abstract—are unified by a disciplined foundation in composition and material control. In his figurative works, this results in clarity and lifelike presence; in his abstract pieces, it translates into layered surfaces, controlled spontaneity, and a strong sense of balance and depth.

A notable milestone in his career is the inclusion of his portrait of Douglas MacArthur in the permanent collection of the West Point Museum, placing his work within an important institutional and historical context.

Maristela has produced an extensive body of work across the United States, the Philippines, and the Middle East, including large-scale commissions, contemporary pieces, and abstract works for private and public spaces. His portfolio reflects versatility without losing cohesion—bridging realism and abstraction through a consistent standard of craftsmanship.

Based in the United States, he continues to create original works and accept select commissions. His paintings are held in private and institutional collections and appeal to collectors seeking both technical excellence and contemporary artistic range.
